PREPARING RESIN SCENICS
Our scenic resin bases and scenery are cast in a lightweight urethane resin which will require light sanding on a flat block with wet-n-dry paper in order to produce a flat underside.
Our vacuum degassing process produces near bubble-free castings, but an occasional bubble or minor void does occur. Likewise, although we try our best to securely package your resin pieces, Royal Mail does sometimes manage to damage goods in transit. Any necessary repairs to this resin are very easily accomplished with any standard superglue, but please note the resin bonds almost instantly. Cracks and holes can be filled with any epoxy putty - milliput, Procreate, Kneadatite, etc.
Remove excess mould residue by washing resin pieces in warm soapy water and drying thoroughly. Prime resin before painting with a spray acrylic primer – we recommend aerosol primers such as Halfords or similar; other paints will not adhere to the resin unless it is properly primed.
We recommend drilling and pinning your miniature to its base with superglue or epoxy adhesive. Figures can be primed at the same time as the base – the same primer will work equally well on plastic, resin and white metal.
Our urethane resin is stone-filled and should be very tough; but it is easily tapped, drilled, filed and machined as necessary
